The 32-year-old Navy veteran Thomas Caleb Butler is still in jail without bail after being charged with attempted murder, elder abuse, criminal threats, and violence in connection with the attack on May 20.
Butler could be formally re-arrested as early as June 4, and charges linked to murder are being considered.
The attack’s facts are terrible. Advertisement Local news outlets got hold of security footage that showed Butler walking up to Sheron outside of his Buchanan Street home and starting what prosecutors call an unprovoked attack.

The New York Post reported that Garcia told the court what happened next: “It was a single punch to the jaw. He was soon found and apprehended by the police.
He progressively worsened from the serious head trauma.
His wife, Maria Sheron, told reporters there was ‘no hope’ for her husband. He died on Sunday, five days after the incident.

Sheron became well known for his pro-America and President Donald Trump-themed residence in southern California.

Around 2:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Escondido, California, police officers responded to reports of an assault at the intersection of East Mission Avenue and Buchanan Street, adjacent to the “Trump House.”
They located a male, later identified as Sheron, “suffering from significant injuries.”
His wife, Maria Garcia, told The Post last week she didn’t expect her husband to survive.
“This is the guy that plays with Legos and Star Wars stuff,” Butler’s friend reportedly said
Garcia also believed the attack was politically motivated.

Police said a bystander who interfered during the alleged incident was also injured
For years, the property has attracted both supporters and critics.
Garcia suggested the visible patriotic displays may have fueled hostility.
